My name is fitkoh, and I'm the operator of Forum Homes. I got into hosting so I could create, publish, and distribute content on my own terms.
What
Forum Homes is a free forum hosting service built on a post for host model. By registering an account on 4m.homes and posting a comment once a month you are eligible to receive free forum hosting for your online community.
When
I am hopeful that I will be able to fund the project through 2026.
Where
Services are currently offered in 5 locations:
Why?
A unique, short-lived culture manifested at the advent of the internet.
People were connected to a diverse array of cultures, people from all over the world conversation about whatever they were passionate about.
In the early days of bulletin boards and online forums, people cherished and curated discussions, composing thoughtful and comprehensive exchanges on a regular basis.
A half a generation later, with the Genesis of social media, the connections became more tenuous. The conversations became little more than memes.
It's my hope that by offering free forum hosting we can preserve a tiny specimen of the old culture before it diminishes into nonexistent.
How
By purchasing low end servers at 90% off during loss leader marketing promos and utilizing open source technology to power my software stack I'm able to deliver a high level of custom performance at a fraction of expected costs.
The downside: when things go wrong.
